First off, I want to address that your engagement session is about your relationship & what represents it best. These are just a few suggestions that I've learned over the years that helps spark up my client's personal vision.
I include almost all of these tips in my personal Client Guide I give to my couples upon booking. I like to think it has helped them dream up the session they actually want.
Here are 5 tips to make your engagement session vision come to life:
Choose a location that is meaningful to you - this can be a coffee shop, restaurant, park, etc. This doesn't have to be the main location, but just an add on at the end of your session. It helps make your gallery look so diverse & more personal to you!
Joel + Amy love coffee, especially Onyx Coffee located in Rogers, Arkansas. Starting our session at their fav coffee shop made the session more personalized to them!
2. Do something leisurely together- this can be sipping wine at the bar, skate boarding down the street, or swimming at the lake! This helps y'all feel comfortable & fosters more natural interaction.
Emmery + Colby thought it was a must-have to have the bar scene moment. You would make my day if we could do something a little more activity based for your session!! I mean how good does this shot look?!
3. As a couple, look in the mirror with your outfits on before your session- this is so helpful to make sure everything complements each other. You get to walk into your session with confidence knowing everything looks great.
Katie + Jake texted me the cutest photos of their outfit combinations before our session. Not only did they seem so giggly in the photos, but their colors coordinated beautifully. I more than welcome this with my clients!
4. Wear the same neutral colors- I think this can look so classy & aesthetic.
Jenna + Zack both wore white, and this is one of my favorite casual looks yet.
5. Act like you're on a date together- really, because you kinda are. Taking professional pictures together is a rare & fun experience in your relationship. So be flirt and pretend like I'm not there half the time. Trust me, this will help make your photos look more like your relationship.
Hannah + Trent were such a great example of this. They were really in the moment with each other.
